Hi to all:

After spending most of my Easter break stranded in the marina due to gale-force winds, it was nice that I had another 4-day break coming up.  Luckily, we had some favourable weather. An easy 10-12 knot wind on our way out (in which the Ballad managed to clock a respectable 4.6 knots) and the remnants of a force 6-7 on our way back, which is where this very short video is from. We beam-reached most of the way but also did some close-reaching.  Top speed was 7.8 knots with sustained speeds of over 6.5 knots. Not bad for a boat that was fully loaded. I imagine that her totally clean bottom made a big difference.

(Mind you the video is at 30fps which makes our progress seem a tad faster than it was)

Hello Nick and all,

We reached 11,8 knots with spinnaker at near gale couple weeks ago at offshore race gulf of Finland. We also reached several times over 10 knots. I like a lot how Ballad sails in heavy weather. It didn't make any "surprises" for us.
