Re: Inner forestay deck attachment and support.

Great write up, looking forward to reading about the backstays. I've been considering fitting a solent stay (so not to fit runners) but I do like Bob's thought on the ghoster. Lot's to do/think about and spend money on!

Must visit more often!

I haven't been on here for a while but there's been some good threads, Nick's mast build being one of them! I've got lots of reading and catching up to do. Whilst I'm here, has anyone in the UK got an old genoa with luff tape? I'm looking to fit roller reefing but my sails are hanks, I'm looking to ...

Re: Where do you put your batteries?

I'm planning on an under cockpit battery tray this year. Few jobs to tick off and I'll get started.

Re: Ballad price new?

Thanks for the replies! That was the sort of money I was thinking, thank god for old boats otherwise I would still be looking, wishing and dreaming.

As always, itching to get a sail but lots of things to do over the winter!

Ballad price new?

Does anyone know what the ballad would have cost new in the 70's? Mine didn't have the first bill of sale but it would be interesting to know.

Re: Show me your outhaul

Great, pics would be fantastic. She's an old girl that needs a but of upgrading I would love to pull her apart and start from scratch but you can't do everything at once. I'm just slowly getting through what's there and what needs doing. Really thought I just want to get out for a sail but good thin...

Show me your outhaul

Sundance's outhaul is made off to the end of the boom with no adjustment, I want to add some blocks so it can be adjusted mast end or possibly even lead aft in the future. I've still got the rolling boom reefing not that it matters a huge amount. How have you got yours setup? Pics would be great. Tom

Electric bilge pump install

What are peoples thoughts? At the moment I have an manual pump in the rear locker however as I live 100 miles from the boat I'm thinking of installing an electric pump with a float switch for some peace of mind for when I'm not there. I've heard lots of scare stories of submersible auto pumps, eithe...

Re: I've just bought a Ballad as well!

It's one of two different layouts the Ballads had, mines the 6 berth version with the two "pilot berths" above the bench seats and the rear facing nav station rather then the 5 berth with the forward nav station and the quarter berth in the rear locker. As we have a little boy and friends ...
