Re: water inside the rudder

Many thanks for your replys.
I'm less worried now.

water inside the rudder

dear balladers, My Ballad (Nº 253) is out of the water since a month and the rudder is still leaking water. When I knock the the rudder it seems to be hollow. Is this severe? I live in the south of Europe and here we don't have freeze waters to crack the rudder. My concern is with the integrity of t...

Re: Engine

The 3gm was sold and I'm still looking for a new (second hand) engine. I saw a md7b 17hp wich fit exactly in the same mounts of my old md6a. The other one is a 2002 with 18hp. Both engines equiped the latest series of Ballads so I'm sure they are going to fit the engine compartment. But, I noticed t...

Re: Kitchen window

Dear balladers,

For the trash I use a bag hanged around the vertical cover under the drawer and it's very pratical.
I think I'm going to enlarge the storing area with this window.

Many thanks for your replys,

Miguel

Kitchen window

Dear balladers, Can anyone tell me the purpose of the small window in the kitchen with connection to the starboard locker? I'm thinking about putting a box in the locker to use the window as a small extra storage for the kitchen. But, I don't know if there was any other objectif with this small wind...

Re: Hull Identification Number (HIN)

I have a Ballad from 1973 with the number 253 in the bronze plate and in the original mainsail. But, recently I found the number 276 inside the stern locker at stb side. Now I'm confused! I have the hull number 253 or 276?

Re: Tiller pilot

Hi, I've purchased the Simrad TP10 in svb.de for about 280€. Today was the first test. With 15Kts of wind worked very well with full main and genoa II. Very powerfull. With the wind and wave behind it makes some sss but ok. Against the wind was perfect. The speed of the arm is a bit slow with the wi...

Re: Roller furling mainsail

Hi, I like very much de slaab reffing sistem. It's simple and reliable. I agree with you. But, I think I'm becoming a litle lazy in my day sailing and short coastal cruise. So, my fantasie is to have a main sail as practical as my furling jib. I dont have to leave the cockpit to do the job. My idea ...

Roller furling mainsail

Dear ballader's, I would like to know your opinion about the roller furling mainsail. I have the original roller furling boom but the mainsail is normal with slaab reefing points. It works well with the reefs working outside the bomm. I'm thinking about a new mainsail and I would like to hear your o...
