Re: Dinenet
It was Nicholas of "Moments of Clarity" that did the post. I saved the pictures, and with Nic's blessing I could re-post them on the forum.

Re: Show me your outhaul
Pictures as promised. This is not an ideal set-up, I'm sure it could be better, but it works well enough so it's what I'm going with until I upgrade the boom and goose neck from the old roller reefing boom. I use slab reefing, and want to change out the old boom section for a box section with intern...

Re: Show me your outhaul
I have a loose foot main. My out-haul is a 4 to 1 tackle, and even that is a grunt to tighten when the wind pipes up. I use 2 small Harken double blocks. I use Amsteel line (nice and thin) to carry the load, a clam cleat under the boom, and a round plastic ball on the end to get a good grip on it. W...

Re: Electric bilge pump install
I use a small electric pump in the bilge and a Water Witch model 101 switch with no moving parts. The pump is fused and wires directly to one of my two batteries. Both batteries are connected to a 30 Watt solar panel. My biggest concern was with mechanical float switches ... not a good idea. This sw...

Re: I've just bought a Ballad as well!
I use my laptop with Memory Map Navigator and OpenCPN . It's connected to my AIT2000 AIS transceiver giving me ship positions and my position to other ships when I have the transmit button on. I also have a Nexus 7 tablet with Memory Map Navigator, but it's not connected to AIS. In hindsight, I woul...

Re: Just bought a Ballad!
Welcome Andy ... You are going to love your Ballad. When I found mine, having never sailed one before, it was a leap of faith to put a lot of work into her before setting sail, but it was well worth it.
Looking forward to some more pictures!

Re: Out for a Sail
Hi Bob, Sorry, no video :( My regular use jib is a 130 and reefs down quite well (although I hate to put creases in that nice new Dacron). I also have about a 145 nylon drifter that when the luff is winched tight will point fairly high. But on occasions where there is wind on the nose I thought the ...

Out for a Sail
Took the Ballad out for a toot today to try a 150 Genoa I had never used ... works well!
