Re: #332 restoration (ongoing)

I'm basically done with the forward half of the boat :) I do however still need to build a holding tank. The biggest problem right now is finding PVC "pluming" pipes and fittings. I'm having a hard time finding anything that will allow me to connect my 38 mm hose to the holding tank. Look...

Re: Speaker placement (in cabin)

Is triangles. :) You can cut the center out of a triangle with surprisingly little loss of strength. (Hence, geodesic domes. Most of your forces migrate out to the edges.) Looking good, Mads! Hehe, my initial thought was actually to PM you Bob :) I thought you might be able to shine some light on w...

Re: Speaker placement (in cabin)

Lots of ideas coming up all the time. Newest are to replace all sliding doors with smoke-coloured acrylic and glue teak/coto veneer on the steps and top step/hatch. :D I had to move outside because too much dust entered the rest of our house (not so popular  ) and this slowed down progress. Th...

Re: #332 restoration (ongoing)

A quick update :) Installed the new LED lighting (and a fancy new lightswitch). Installed a blackjack (stern gland). Removed the old thru-hulls and seacocks with exception of the one used for seawater to the engine. I'm going to use thru-hulls and seacocks from Trudesign Plastics. https://lh5.google...

Re: Speaker placement (in cabin)

Hey, we mounted 16cm (6,3") Helix speakers in that small bulkheads in 2010. After sailing about 3500 miles since then, everything is fine with our bulkheads. I don´t think you have to worry about the strength. 3500 miles seems very reassuring :) Thank you :) I've taken the plunge (mounted the ...

Re: Speaker placement (in cabin)

I placed 5.25" speakers in the small bulkheads above the shelf. Those fusions are 6" but should fit without problem. How is the painting/varnishing coming along? :) Looking forward to seeing more pictures :) Mounting the speakers in the small bulkheads is very high on my list of possible ...

Speaker placement (in cabin)

I ordered a couple of Fusion MS-FR6021 ( http://www.fusionelectronics.com/marine/products/speakers/ms-fr6021 ) speakers (to be used with a Fusion MS-RA50). I want to mount the head unit next to the chart table. Finding a suitable place (in the cabin) to mount the speakers is proving to be a bit of a...

Re: White bulkheads?

hmm, we must have the same interior designer ;-) All done painting and varnishing by the way :-) https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-MzLPxnhTwCc/UyIKZ_Nz1GI/AAAAAAAAFoo/zpOAplg94dM/w779-h584-no/IMG_20140313_204325.jpg Apparently having a boat in front yard has awoken some dormant hoarding tendencies ...

Re: Volvo penta exhaust elbow (MD6A) out of production - hel

Crisis averted :-) I turns out there are plenty of spare parts for the MD6A - although not original Volvo parts. I've ordered a new stainless exhaust elbow (USD 200). It should arrive later this month. Fingers crossed fitting it will be easy (not quite the same shape and size as the original). Thank...
