Leaking hull deck joint

In Ballad #332 there are obvious signs of leaks between deck and hull. 1) visible water damage (foam material and bolts) 2) a lot of paper towel that the PO placed along the joint https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-DFS4uwc-QO4/Ug-iTSYcFWI/AAAAAAAACPQ/cmecjd3hhvQ/w459-h612-no/IMG_0952.JPG https://lh3...

Re: #332 restoration (ongoing)

Most of the plywood has been removed from the boat :) https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-KTmLWKMB60I/UiY1Gf2KPjI/AAAAAAAACZM/Cdwnp4DGmFA/w768-h232-no/IMG_1177.JPG I've had a close look at the bulkheads and it turns out they are in very good condition. The outer veneer is worn thru in many places but...

Re: #332 restoration (ongoing)

Today I've gotten three comments from passersby. All positive :) Apparently Ballads are really good looking boats - who knew ;) That does seem like a strange kind of stress fracture. I Will be sure to take a close look at my thru-deck bolts (and post pictures). I just browsed thru the pictures on yo...

#332 restoration (ongoing)

Finally got the boat home. Thanks to a very skilled crane operator she now sits comfortably in my front yard. A very beautiful although huge garden gnome ;) https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-GGs5HhQ1fro/UgyyvH1VAHI/AAAAAAAAB6Q/Glm5HnKhV6w/w640-h480-no/IMG_0932.JPG https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/...

Re: Ballad #332, new owner

Sounds like you have been sailing for a long time :) My long term plan/dream is to cross the Atlantic and spend a year or two cruising. I develop software for a living and as long as there is a decent internet connection in a port I could work (clients back home) for small periods of time to help co...

Re: Ballad #332, new owner

Very beautiful landscape :) Are there any big lakes near by?

Three sailboats must be a lot of work :) What kind are the other two boats? I think I'm going to stick with just the one for now . Seeing as I'm single with no kids one boat should be just the right amount of boats for me ;)

Re: What kind of plywood? (interior restoration)

Thanks for the suggestions. Happy to hear that USD 530 seems high. Prjacobs, what species of tree are those BS 1088 sheets you used? I've seen the pictures and it looks absolutely gorgeous in my opinion! :) I've talked to a five different suppliers now. Only one of the even knew what BS 1088 was and...

Re: Ballad #332, new owner

Thanks Bob :) Luckily my front yard is just big enough to squeeze a Ballad in there. My boat is still in the water but should find her way here in the next couple of weeks. I'm really looking forward to get started! https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-mpYUdww13ks/UgAInvC1ddI/AAAAAAAAB5c/dhSHPlhgBks/w...

Ballad #332, new owner

Hi Guys I thought I'd say a quick hello as I'm new to this forum and the Ballad. Three weeks ago I made a decision. It's properly either going to be the best or the worst decision I've made in a long time. After being in love with the Ballad for a couple of years I finally found one that was priced ...
