I´m not sure but as far as I know its for the trashcan.
We´ve mounted a bucket in the starboard locker right under that window and use it as a trashcan. So the cabin stays clean:-)

Re: Tiller Length
Last year, we build a new tiller, because the old one was way to short. I measured 3 tillers from different Ballads to get the right length. They varied from about 100cm to 110cm. We decided to build it 105cm:-) It works fine, but I don´t know if it is the original length... http://www.forml.de/tamt...

Re: Speaker placement (in cabin)
We replaced our sliding doors with coloured acryl. It looks nice and kind of modern:-)
Because of the mirror effect, the kitchen area looks bigger.
And again I have no better picture, its a snapshot from a video...

Hey,
we mounted 16cm (6,3") Helix speakers in that small bulkheads in 2010.
After sailing about 3500 miles since then, everything is fine with our bulkheads. I don´t think you have to worry about the strength.
Sorry for no better picture

Re: J dimension discrepency
Hi,
we measured it last year, when we ordered new Sails. Our measurement says 3,57m (about 11`8").
I guess every Ballad is unique, because the building standards in the 70ies were not as high as today:-)

Hey Mads,
last year I saw that exhaust part at a local store as a special offer. I will be in that shop this week again so I can ask for it.
But I don´t know if it`s still available...are those parts similar to MD7a parts?
Best regards
Nico

I love that funky green, in Germany we call it "poison green" :-) We were thinking about something like that too, but we cant get that color from our favorite brand, so we decided for that normal white. We kept the original ladder. Now its mounted on the right side, beside the windvane: ht...

Re: Video of hullpainting
Hi, thank you for your kind words. @Bob: our gelcoat was also in bad condition. We found out, that our Ballad has spend a long time in the Mediterranean Sea and the preowner doesn´t take care of her...so, the sun and salt had enough time to do their work. Are you going to paint your Ballad blue agai...
