Re: Deck colour!
Gosh she does look lovely Nicholas, thanks for posting, it gives me hope and a will to continue the work :). I note you painted the translucent part of the fore hatch - I'm considering doing that myself, although doesn't that make the forecabin exceedingly dark?... ah wait, I see, you added a port l...

Re: Deck colour!
So washed the deck a couple of times, given it an acetone washing and I've started sanding, I am bit worried about the 'valleys' of the non slip though, the sander only appears to sand off the peaks! http://i.imgur.com/Fpy0Cafl.jpg?1 Interprotect (so epoxy primer) is going on first, and that is some...

Re: Deck colour!
Humm, I looked deeper into the technical documents around the matting agent, they state: "Polyurethane Matting Additive will provide a reduced mar-resistant finish and therefore should not be used on walkways etc. When used with Perfection, the addition of Matting Additive will reduce opacity, ...

Seems cheap doesn't it? £61k? Look at the price of a modern Swedish HR: http://www.hallberg-rassy.com/yachts/pr ... -for-sale/

Re: Deck colour!
Thanks for posting - ah, another interesting point you make there - I was a bit worried about the decks being too glossy. There is a matting additive for Internationals - would you suggest use it on all of the paint - including the slick, not non slip bits?

Re: Re-cutting a Genoa 3.
Indeed, apologies, I drifted the sail thread! I am envious of your sailing - can't wait to have her back in the water in April.
I would love to have an inner forstay like yours - that's definitely on my 'list' - did you fit it yourself?

Re: Re-cutting a Genoa 3.
Thanks Nicholas.
You are not the only one to have suggested the non slip granules are as much good as a chocolate tea pot. I don't suppose you have any photos of both jobs once they were finished?? I'm wondering if I go straight to kiwigrip rather than the 2k over those areas...

Re: Re-cutting a Genoa 3.
They are lovely, and have aged very well and lost no performance (apart from a slightly flappy leech on the jib). I'm doing the whole deck with 2k, so quite a process! I'm using 2 coats of International InterProtect, followed by 2 coats of Perfection Primer followed by 3 coats of Perfection with ant...

Re: Re-cutting a Genoa 3.
Good effort Nicholas, and a great use of an old sail. I often, in light airs, find myself craving the proper sized number 1, rather than the roller furled headsail I have (that is, actually, very good) - http://www.albinballad.co.uk/technology/new-sails/ - can't believe its been eight years since I ...

Re: Mast step truss, inevitably:(
Interesting, completely different mast foot to mine - I wonder if your mast has been replaced in the past? Even the sole looks different around it, I wonder if someone has taken a look previous to you at the truss?
