First is a (slightly terrifying) photo of UK Ballad Shebeen, apparently off Weymouth in 2006 (found on the Poole Yacht Racing Assoc. site):

They say photographs & videos always make waves look smaller than they really are. ;) Please do not let my mother see that photo.

Second find is a German (Tubingen) Ballad planning a very ambitious Atlantic circle this summer:

Is S/V Takamaka a member of the Ballad Exchange? Would love to hear more about the crew, boat, and voyage.:)

Just as the crew thought things could't get any more terrifying ... ;)

Great finds, Bob :) Would love to do a trip like the one Takamaka has planed. What an adventure! :-)

Suddenly ... It Got Worse.

Those UK Balladeers are a hearty bunch. "Not storms, nor giant ospreys, nor great white sharks can deter us from our pleasant day out." See, that's why you should never reef the sails. It makes your boat look smaller to potential predators.

Hahaha, awesome! :)

Hope I don't come across that combination on my summer cruise! Leaving next friday for 6 weeks of pure sailing fun :)

hey guys, although it's a bit late to answer, Google told me about this post so I decided to answer. I have not heard about this exchange program. I am currently In Dominica and things are doing great! The boat is still doing a great job. Only problem is water leaking from deck but I almost fixed it. You may find pictures an German texts at www.takamaka-segeln.de and under category "gastebuch" you may enter any question and I'll be happy to answer:-)! As I won't be online in this forum please use the website:-) thanks
Cheers
