Hello friends!

I noticed some times ago that rubber hose around tiller axel is quite old and maybe a little bit suspicious. Does someone know, how rudder can be removed? Is it possible to change hose without removing a rudder?

Hi Jere.

You put the boat on land, and lift it high in a crane or dig a hole under the rudder for extra space. You remove the tiller head, while the rudder is supported from below, and then lower the rudder. If you only want to change the rubber hose, you don't need the extra space below, but if you want to change the bushings as well, the rudder must come all out. I did so while the boat was hanging in a crane from the truck, that put it on land, and then the reverse when the boat was put tinto the water.

Hello Jesper!

Tiller head seems to be stucked some way. I removed two small screws from head and banged cautiosly head up, but no result. It noticed, that there was a cleat, but I thought. that it is not the reason for jamming. Is there something else, which I didn't notice?

thanks again.

Hi Jere

I had the same problem, and used a larger hammer. Or I used a puller, or pulley, a tool that slowly but forcefully pulls the tiller head off. The cleat should not be the problem, it is more or less straigth.
