I have a 1973 Ballad which had an oil fed stern gland. Nothing but hassle as gland kept leaking despite changing seals. My local Volvo dealer has just fitted a sort of water fed dripless seal ( not the Volvo dripless seal) which is made of corrugated red rubber & a black seal. The thing is leaking like crazy especially when the engine is in gear at  slow speed!! My engine is a Volvo MD2020. Does anybody know of the best seal to use ??

We are about to have made a new sprayhood and a cockpit tent for our Ballad.

As the old alupipes of the sprayhood have been broken at the ends and the ends are missing I do not have the excact lenght of them, would anyone be kind enough to measure the total lenght of each pipe so my sailmaker can make them right,

We have the old ones so we have the shape and also the old sprayhood to go by..

Have anyone tried having the sprayhood made higher than original, we find that some 5 cm higher at the back should make it easier to get below, as i remember there is some 20 cm from the sprayhood to the boom when the mainsail is up.

The gasket on my cockpit lockers needs to be replaced and I have been unable to find the right size gasket: 3/8" X 1/2" . Does any one know of a supplier? Thanks. mb S/V Mystic

Does anybody have telephone no. of Chris Cload in Plymouth who has repaired mast steps of I think several Ballads. I own Ballad No. 69 & the wall of the forward bilge has gone rotten with rust & on feeling the mast shoe it is rusty+++. I would like to get it repaired. I would be most grateful for anybody who has any info. regarding a mast step repair they may have had done such as cost etc.

I have a 13 hp dsl that is rated at 3600 rpm. I have a 13 x 6 three bladed prop. and the engine turns up to 2900 rpm max. Anyone have a recomendation to increase the engine rpms with a different prop size? Thanks for your consideration. Have enjoyed the discussions on this site. Thanks Jesper Milling.

A group of us in the UK are looking into the possibility of going to the Ballad Worlds in 2005. As we do not have the time available to sail our own boat to Sweden we are wondering if anybody would allow us to charter a locally based Ballad to race. Could you all help and spread the word around the local clubs and associations.

On the Front Page you find a link to the new world map of Albin Ballad. A map where you can post a pin, showing where you live and sail your own Ballad, and you can see where others live and sail their Ballads. It's going to be interesting to see if indeed the Ballad is sailed all over the world.

I have created a Ballad Exchange Icon for the Desktop or the favorits menu. Please find it attached to this message.

The idea of the dictionary is that if you need an english word to properly describe something in regard to the Ballad, you open the dictionary, click on the header of the colomn with your own language, run down the wordlist till you find the word in your own language, and then look in the english colomn.

 

If the word is not in the list, you just add the word to the list, and if you have a paper based dictionary on your shelf you may look it up, and put in the english word as well. If you don't know and can쨈t find the english word, you add the word to the list anyway, and leave it to some other user to fill in the english word.

 

If you find a word that you know is incorrectly translated, you correct the translation, and leave a note about your correction in the comment field.

 

If you find the same english word has been entered twice, as when it has been entered by a dane, and later by a german, you add the danish word to the line with the german word, and delete the danish line, or opposit.
