New Albin Ballad World Map

You have previously received my invitation for the new Albin Ballad World Map. That invitation was done from inside Goolge Maps, and it included a lot of Danish Text, more than I had expected. This was not quite as userfriendly towards the most of you as I usually try to make it. I apologize. The main message however was included in english as well, namely the invitation to try out our new world map based on Google maps.

However, I had overseen a small thing. One needs to open an account with Google to insert information into the Google World Map. It's free of charge, and it only takes a mail address and a password. So it's easy enough. I tried to create a common user, using the mail address of our forum (albin-ballad@groups.msn.com) but I was not allowed to use it, probably because it is not a personal mail address.

On the Front Page of ballad Exchange you find a link to the new Albin Ballad World Map as well as the new one, and I hope you like the idea. It can be used for a lot more than old map. The old map was limited at 100 entries, and by gully we went to the limit a long time ago. I don't think we have such a limit at Google Maps. Furthermore, the map is a whole lot more detailed, and we may switch to satelite photograph and see even more details. My own Ballad for instance, can be seen in Dyreborg Harbour.

Best regards Jesper Milling

Great idea, Jesper.

What a beautiful area you sail in. I've added my pointer to the map, but unfortunately the satellite picture is nowhere near as good as your area.

Hi Jesper:

The map is a neat idea. However, upon close inspection of the satellite image, I noticed that I placed "Moments of Clarity" well aground! In my effort to edit my profile and fix the error I managed to place a phantom-Ballad named "Stedmarkering 5" somewhere NE of Greenland!  How can I mend my stupidities?

Hi Nicholas,

I've removed "Stedmarkering 5". I clicked Rediger (Edit), right clicked on the pointer, and clicked Slet (Delete).

To move your pointer, just hover the curser over it, left click and drag to wherever you like. You might find it's not where you left it!!! Has a Ballad ever travelled that fast?

Thanks Tim.

That was a narrow escape from embarrassment.

Jesper,

The new map is wonderful idea.

The site has provided me with a good deal information on solving problems and  preventative maintenance. Like many sailors, I like to tinker and rely on this site for things to do, i.e. night light in the dodger, ways of utilizing space for storage, etc.

Dan Sullivan
