Hi All,
With the hurricane season here along with other factors, we are attempting to sell a 1976 Albin Ballad that was given as a gift to my friend Douglas. The sailboat is about 500 miles north of us in the panhandle of Florida and we don't often get up there. Douglas is ill and money is an issue as well. Does anyone of you have some good advice for two people with no sailing experience and owners of a beautiful old sailboat that must be sold? We tried Ebay....that was a mistake as the people had us drive all the way up there[Panama City, FL.] and changed their minds after seeing it. They said they needed a boat that could sleep more as their family was large...it would've been nice if they had researched our sailboat beforehand...Anyway, since all of you are Albin lovers, I am hoping that this message will reap some much needed sailboat selling advice and I very much appreciate it...
Thanks
VirtualAmaya

If I can help in any way... please feel free to contact me.

Hi Again,
I have emailed you twice today and the email wasn't sent but I got an email to say that you have an over filled mailbox....so that no more emails can be sent to you .....I am trying to send you this to see if you receive it through the Albin site....hope to hear from you tomorrow when you call Doug.
thanks, Amaya

If you want a very good presentation of the Ballad, In ENGLISH, go to this address, which is a PDF document, that you may print, and send to a buyer:

You may also refer to this address in an email.

Otherwise ask people to visit this forum, where they may find interesting info, or ask for it.

But best advice might be to find a broker. May cost you a little, and it  may just save you from a lot of trouble, and from selling way too cheap.

If a local Ballad sailor could recommend a good broker, it would be nice.

Kind regards Jesper Milling.

Well, the best place to find a buyer is Northern
Europe
where Ballads are popular. But that said, unfortunately
importing boats into the EU is not straightforward. All boats imported into the
EU now need a CE certificate, which is a rather costly thing, and possibly
uneconomical on top of the shipping costs for a boat of that age. Maybe you can
find some tips at http://www.boatimport.eu/

But there’s no harm in trying… you can advertise
it for free at www.yachtdatabase.com.
The advantage of this site is that it’s a place where lots of
Scandinavians look – well, Danes at any rate. It’s also in English.
You could also advertise it for free at http://www.batnet.se/,
but you’ll need a Swedish dictionary to find you’re way around that
site.

Add a few details, too… like what motor it has,
whether it has a furling jib, etc. and some digital pictures. Everyone will
understand English…

Maybe try and find prices to have it shipped to Gothenburg
or
Copenhagen and give an indication of those in your
add, too.

Charles
