Oh dear, Jesper. Does that mean you are tired of Ballads? Or is it just that you are looking for more comfort in a bigger boat?

Will you still be looking after the Ballad Group? I know the group has been very quiet, recently, but it's still a marvellous resource for Ballad owners, and would be greatly diminished without you.

Anyway, I hope that you manage to sell your boat easily, and enjoy whatever you replace her with.

I echo Tim's message - we all hope there's a happy explanation!

Jesper, whatever your plans, I hope sailing will play an important part. I am reminded of how much we all owe you for your excellent work and expertise with the Ballad exchange. If you get another boat, I hope it will have the beautiful lines of the Ballad and be just as seaworthy.

Hi folks, my refit of Temptress continues but was much simplified by the information posted on this site and efforts of Jesper. I wish you well Jesper with your decision to put your ballad for sale but hope this site continues. I am now only getting to know this site but have not yet figured how to post photos - help !

Hi everyone! We are selling, because we want a larger boat with more room for friends and family. We hope to be buying a Bavaria 34 with 3 cabins, the model from around 2000. It has more modern sailing characteristics for better an worse, and much more room. At the same time it is affordable, like the ballad. I think it is just as pretty, but I know others will disagree.

Ballad Exchange has been a lot of fun for me to make and maintain. Unfortunately, the new service we are using here, the Multiply service, doesn't seem to work very well. For instance, I haven't received any mail about all these comments to my putting the boat for sale, I just discovered them now when I was editing the add, to reduce the price. Thats why you haven´t been replied. I will have to change my setup, I suppose.

I still like the Ballad a lot though, and I realise that Ballad Exchange is a good ressource (would even have been great if not so many images had disappeared here on Multiply) so I am considering moving Ballad Exchange once more, to a paid for forum created using Joomla. It would not cost a lot, maybe something like 50 Euro a year or so, and I could probabaly put up a simple donations function where users could drop a few coins every now and then. Ballad Sailors would then have something as good or better than the old MSN Ballad Exchange, without commercials. And it would last longer. Unfortunately the content could not be moved, except manually, so I would definedly have to ask all users before making a move. Seeing activity fall and postings become worthless because of missing images, and poor indexing, after moving to Multiply, has really saddened me. All the work, and all the good stuff. I think Microsoft did wrong by closing MSN Groups.

Well, so much for just now. Tha boat still hasn't been sold, we just made a new dodger for it, and if it isn't sold by new year we will probably still be sailing it at our traditional new years cruise with are German friends. So long!

Hi Jesper,
We want to make a new dodger for our Ballad. Did you use a kit? Any tips for us? Tony has more confidence in my sewing ability that I do! But I did make a Sailrite bag for Pleiades jib that has held together.
Thanks,
Ann

Our Ballad was sold a little before Christmas. I'll keep maintaining our forum though, for a while, I still like the Ballad and the Ballad sailors a lot. We plan to find a successor sometime in the fall 2010, since right now we are busy working on the house. The Ballad served us well, we only need more room for friends and family.

Best regards from Jesper Milling
